There are three reasons why intermediate piano students remain intermediate for years and do not move into early advanced repertoire.

  1. Technical training! Just like the skills needed to play soccer, basketball, swimming, and other sports, piano technique requires many different physical approaches to move with ease and continuity.. This makes getting up and down the keyboard so much easier!
  2. A wide range of repertoire that motivates students to invest in learning. The proper trajectory of pieces is essential to moving up to that first “stretch piece.”
  3. Frequent opportunities to perform in many different venues build confidence and pride in presentation skills.

My intermediate group classes meet online one hour per week. Additional videos teach additional skills that enhance progress. LIVE performances are held in Nexton and Cane Bay venues. As a member of the Charleston Music Teachers Association, students have access to recitals, musicales, festivals and competitions.

As students progress, they can move to private instruction held in my Cane Bay home studio. Advanced students are offered private lessons.
